Spectrum Laboratory Network: Nate Headley, CEO

by HCE Exchange on August 19, 2010

Spectrum Laboratory Network is a full-service regional medical laboratory headquartered in Greensboro, NC. As a joint venture created by High Point Regional Health System and the Moses Cone Health System, the original goal of the organization was to consolidate laboratory function, and reduce operating costs in the Hospital Laboratories. By amassing resources however, the organization has been able to expand on the original goal, and build on the successes to create high-quality services for a vast number of clients. Today, Spectrum serves six southeastern US states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and Maryland.

With 1,370 employees, Spectrum provides lab services for over 71 locations including 67 patient service centers. All total 7,000 physicians, 10 hospitals, nursing homes, home health, clinics, urgent care facilities, business and industries are served by Spectrum.

From Turn-Around to Expansion

In 2000, Nate Headley was brought on as CEO to help a struggling Spectrum. He says that the turnaround process took about two years but growth has been strong ever since.
