Banner Health: Kip C. Edwards, System Vice President for Design and Construction

by HCE Exchange on August 19, 2010

For a large hospital system, facility design and development can become one of the most integral parts of the expansion plan. Banner Health is such an organization, as a not-for-profit hospital system operating 22 hospitals across seven states (Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada California, Alaska, Wyoming, Arizona) Banner is building upon its success. Headquartered in Arizona, Banner Health currently boasts about 25,000 employees and reports revenues of approximately $5 billion a year.

Kip C. Edwards is the System Vice President for Design and Construction at Banner Health. He says Banner is focused on making significant progressive investments and expansion always with an eye towards supporting quality of care. Part of that plan includes growth in the Arizona market, the addition of new hospitals, towers, wings and specific concentration of growth in the Phoenix area. Edwards is specifically responsible for the design and construction of new facilities and the renovation process of current facilities. “I provide the overall leadership for all aspects of facility development, from inception through design and construction and opening.” That means for Edwards, 2009 has been a very busy year. Banner Health was scheduled to wrap up a major growth and building phase in 2010, but finished many major phases and projects in ’09.

Besides the addition of new towers at several hospitals, Banner also renovated an old hospital campus to make it into a corporate and data center.
